Readington Man Who Crashed Truck Charged With DUI

A 20-year-old man who resides in the Whitehouse Station section of Readington is facing DWI charges after crashing his vehicle on Patrick Henry Place in the early morning hours of Sunday.

According to an article on the NewJersey.com website, Joseph W. Trifun was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The incident occurred about 2:26 a.m. on Sunday.

“Officer Adam Swiatek responded to a call about a pickup truck that had overturned after driving off the road,” the article reads.

Trifun was injured as a result of the crash and was treated by the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad. He received small lacerations on his left wrist, police said, but reportedly refused any further medical treatment.

On top of DUI charges, Trifun is also facing charges of reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to report an accident.

He was reportedly released to a family member following the crash and is scheduled to appear for a hearing in municipal court.

The article does not mention what day or time Trifun is scheduled to appear.

“Police also reported Meaghan J. Scotland, 18, of Sparta, was arrested and charged with possession of LSD following a motor vehicle stop on Old York Road at 3:25 a.m. on Saturday,” the article reads.

Scotland was initially stopped by an officer after she failed to use a turn signal. She also had an expired registration, according to police.

“She was also charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of a metal grinder containing marijuana,” the article reads. “She was issued motor-vehicle summonses for driving an unregistered vehicle and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, police said. She [also] was released pending a court appearance.”
